HPPSC Scientific Officer Syllabus 2026: Screening Test, SAT, Advt 65
Advt 65/10-2026: 100-mark Screening Test with negative marking, 120-mark descriptive SAT the same day, then personality test in Shimla if eligible candidates exceed 6:1.

When written is skipped
If eligible candidates are six times the posts or fewer (18 or fewer for three posts), everyone eligible may be called directly to the personality test. Above that threshold, HPPSC holds Screening Test and Subject Aptitude Test on the same day, then the personality test.
Screening Test
100 marks, objective MCQ, negative marking (one fourth per wrong answer; blank penalised like wrong unless option E is used).

Subject Aptitude Test
120 marks, descriptive, held the same day as the Screening Test when the written stage is notified. The advertisement says the SAT syllabus is decided by the Commission from time to time. For this post the essential qualification is chemical forensic science, chemistry, biochemistry or pharmacy. Treat Paper II as those subjects until HPPSC uploads a chapter list for Advt 65. Do not copy the Assistant Director forensic-management brief from Advt 66 onto this form.
Personality test
Held in Shimla when called. Exact marks for the personality test are as printed in the live ORA for 65/10-2026. Confirm the split there before you treat any other HPPSC Group-B notice as the mark scheme.
What the degree must show
Second class M.Sc. Forensic Science with chemical-sciences dissertation or course work, or second class M.Sc. Chemistry / Bio-Chemistry / Pharmacy / M.S. (Pharm.) / M.Pharm., plus three years post-qualification analytical work. The experience certificate must be signed by the research supervisor or head of organisation. Ph.D. research toward the degree counts. This is not the seven-year path used in Advertisement 66 for Assistant Director.
