Overview
Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has published Advertisement No. 66/10-2026 on 7 October 2026 for three unreserved posts of Assistant Director, Forensic Science, as Group-A job trainees. Degree or seven years in the lab
You may qualify with M.Sc. Forensic Science in second class, or with M.Sc. Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or other subjects named in the notice plus seven years of post-qualification analytical or training experience in a forensic or scientific laboratory. Up to three years of PhD research may count toward experience where permitted.
Age is 18 to 45 on 1 January 2026. Bonafide Himachali status is required to claim state reservation.
Screening Test and SAT same day
If eligible candidates are more than six times the three posts, HPPSC holds:
- Screening Test: 100 marks, objective MCQ, with negative marking (one fourth per wrong answer). Distribution: Himachal Pradesh GK 30, national and international affairs 30, Hindi 20, English 20.
- Subject Aptitude Test (descriptive): 120 marks the same day, on forensic science subjects per the commission syllabus.
If candidates are six times the posts or fewer, everyone eligible may be called directly to the personality test, as the advertisement states for that ratio.
Fee and trainee status
Fee is Rs 600 for every candidate. The engagement is a job trainee appointment, not a regular pay-band direct recruitment on completion.

Educational Qualification
