Nagaland Police will recruit 1,137 Constables (General Duty) through an open rally. The advertisement, No. PHQ (B-II)RECT/CONSTABLES(GD)/WP(C)/2026/819, was signed in Kohima on 14 October 2026. Online forms open on 31 October and close on 30 November 2026.
This drive is open only to indigenous Naga tribes of Nagaland, men and women. The education bar is low: Class 8 pass, or Class 6 for Backward Tribes. The physical test carries more marks than the written paper.
The last Nagaland constable drive, for 1,176 posts, drew more than 32,000 applicants according to a police official quoted by PTI in January 2026. Expect similar interest this time.

Who can apply
- Tribe: indigenous Naga tribe of Nagaland, with an Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate and ST certificate signed by an officer not below Additional Deputy Commissioner.
- Education: Class 8 from NBSE or an equivalent board. Backward Tribes: Class 6. If the board has not issued a pass certificate, attach a letter from the board saying so.
- Age: 18 to 37 on the date of the advertisement. Serving government employees get relaxation equal to their service, up to 5 years.
- Date of birth proof: birth certificate or matriculation admit card. Nothing else is accepted.
One district only
You apply for one district. Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland count as one for this drive. You may apply in your native district, or in Dimapur / Chumoukedima / Niuland if you are native to or resident there with a valid Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate from that district.
Some groups must apply from a fixed district, as in 2025: Chang, Sumi and Phom people from recognised villages of Mokokchung apply only from Mokokchung; Sumi from recognised villages of Wokha apply from Wokha; Sumi from the recognised village of Shamator apply from Shamator. Members of these tribes living in those districts but not from the listed villages apply from their native district. The village list is in Annexure I.
Every stage, PST, PET, written test and interview, happens only in the district you chose. Turning up in another district cancels your candidature.
