The Supreme Court of India wants 130 Junior Court Attendants for its Registry in New Delhi. The advertisement is No. F.3/2026-SC (RC), dated 15 October 2026. Applications open on 4 November and close on 25 November 2026 at 11:55 pm. The objective test is pencilled in for 26 December 2026.
Two things make this unusual. First, the qualification has a ceiling: minimum Class 10, maximum Class 12. Second, the pay is a full Level 3 central government scale, Rs 21,700 basic plus allowances, for a Class 10 entry job. That combination is why this post draws a very large field every time it is advertised.
We read the official 12-page PDF from the Supreme Court's government CDN. Nothing below is from a summary.

The advertisement does not print a category-wise split of the 130 posts. It says reservation follows Rule 4A of the Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961.
What the job is
Clause 27 spells it out. Apart from other duties, a Junior Court Attendant carries files, paper books, books and records, dusts tables, chairs, almirahs, windows and book-shelves, and serves tea, coffee, snacks, water and other refreshments to officers and officials of the Registry.
That is honest, and worth reading before you pay Rs 1,500. It is a peon-grade role with central pay, inside the country's top court.
Who can apply
Education. You need Class 10 from a recognised board. Your highest qualification should be Class 12. The PDF puts it as "Maximum XII Standard/10+2". A graduate is outside the printed rule. If you are in a degree course right now, read the advertisement carefully on sci.gov.in and decide for yourself. We would not take the risk with a Rs 1,500 non-refundable fee.
Age on 1 October 2026. 18 to 27. SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD and ex-servicemen get the usual Government of India relaxation. Dependants of freedom fighters get up to 5 years more. Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated and not remarried can apply up to 35 (38 for OBC, 40 for SC and ST). Supreme Court Registry staff have no upper limit. Employees of other government offices, PSUs or banks get no age relaxation.
Nationality. Indian citizens only.
Fee
Rs 1,500 for General or unreserved. Rs 750 for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), ex-servicemen and physically challenged candidates. Bank charges are extra. Payment is online only through the UCO Bank gateway. The fee is not refunded in any situation.
Note that OBC (NCL) pays the lower fee here. That is not the case in many central recruitments.
Selection
| Stage | Duration | Max marks | Qualifying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Objective test: 25 reasoning, 25 numerical aptitude, 25 English, 25 general awareness | 1.5 hours | 100 | 50 |
| Interview | 25 | 13 |
Each question is one mark. 0.25 is deducted for each wrong answer. If many candidates score 50 or more, the Registry calls them for interview at 1:3 against the vacancies, in order of merit. That means about 390 interview calls for 130 posts.
The interview is either online or in person in Delhi. No TA or DA is paid for the test or interview.
Reserved candidates who qualify on relaxed standards are considered only against reserved seats. Selected candidates go on a panel in merit order. The panel itself gives no right to appointment.
The answer key is due on 28 December 2026, with objections on 28 and 29 December till 11:55 pm. Each objection costs Rs 100, refunded if the objection is upheld.
Test cities
Annexure A lists 131 cities. Some examples by region: Patna, Muzaffarpur and Gaya in Bihar; Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur and 9 more in UP; Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota in Rajasthan; Kolkata and Siliguri; Bhubaneswar/Cuttack; Guwahati, Imphal, Shillong, Aizawl, Kohima, Gangtok, Agartala; Delhi/NCR; Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai; Hyderabad, Warangal; Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi; seven Kerala cities; Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur; Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur; Jammu, Srinagar and Leh.
You give cities in order of preference. The Registry can still move you to another city, and it does not accept requests to change centre or date.
Mistakes that cancel a form
- Name or date of birth not matching Class 10. The Registry accepts only what is on the High School certificate. A name change needs a Gazette notification.
- Two forms. Only the last submitted form is considered.
- Category change later. Not allowed.
- Wrong documents. The certificate list is Class 10, Class 12, caste or community, and disability if any. A false claim leads to removal, prosecution and a bar from future Registry posts, even after confirmation.
- Employment after applying. If you get a job during the process, email the Branch Officer, Recruitment Cell at recruitment.cell@sci.nic.in. The PDF warns of "adverse inference" otherwise.
Before 4 November
- Check your Class 10 certificate for exact spelling of your name, parents' names and date of birth.
- Get the OBC (NCL), SC or ST certificate in order. You enter its details in the form.
- Scan photo, signature and certificates.
- Shortlist three to five test cities near you from Annexure A.
The full test plan is on the syllabus page. A full 100-question mock is on the mock test page.
