Seats, age and fee are on the recruitment page. This page is the test itself, as printed in Advertisement No. F.3/2026-SC (RC) of 15 October 2026.

One mark per question. 0.25 deducted per wrong answer. Test date 26 December 2026 (tentative). Answer key 28 December, objections till 29 December, 11:55 pm, Rs 100 each.

That is 54 seconds a question.

Section by section

The advertisement gives only the four headings. The topics below are what a Class 10 level test under these headings normally covers. Treat them as a guide, not as an official list.

General Intelligence and Reasoning (25). Number and letter series, analogy, odd one out, coding and decoding, blood relations, direction sense, ranking and order, simple puzzles, calendar and clock basics, mirror and water images, Venn diagrams, statement and conclusion.

Numerical Aptitude (25). Number system, simplification, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time, speed and distance, mensuration basics (area, perimeter, volume), simple data reading from a table or bar chart.

General English (25). Synonyms, antonyms, spelling, fill in the blanks, error spotting, sentence improvement, one-word substitution, idioms, active and passive voice, a short passage. The English section is in English only. If you studied in Hindi or a regional medium, give this section extra weeks. Every mark here counts toward the 50-mark line.

General Awareness (25). Current affairs of the last year, Indian polity (with special attention to the judiciary), history, geography, economy basics, science in daily life, sports, awards, books and authors, important days. Since this is the Supreme Court, know the basics of the court itself: Article 124, the strength of the court, the Chief Justice, and the court's main jurisdictions.

The 50-mark line and negative marking

You need 50 out of 100 to be considered at all. With a 0.25 penalty, 50 is not as easy as it sounds.

CorrectWrongBlankScore
55202550.0
60301052.5
5284050.0

The third row is the safer route: fewer attempts, high accuracy. Wild guessing to "finish the paper" is how many candidates drop below 50.

If more candidates clear 50 than needed, the Registry calls the top ones at 1:3 for interview. So 50 gets you into the list. Your rank in that list decides the interview call.

The interview

25 marks, 13 to pass. Online or in person in Delhi, as the Registry decides. No TA or DA.

The advertisement does not describe the interview. For a post whose duties include handling court files and serving officers, expect questions on your background, why you want the job, simple general awareness and how you would handle files and instructions. Be neat and on time. Bring every original certificate. Document checking happens around the interview, and a missing document cancels the candidature.

A nine-week plan

Today to 26 December is roughly nine weeks.

  1. Weeks 1 and 2: Numerical basics (percentage, ratio, average). Reasoning series and coding. 20 English words a day.
  2. Weeks 3 and 4: Profit and loss, interest, time and work. Blood relations, direction, puzzles. English grammar: tenses, voice, error spotting.
  3. Week 5: General awareness: polity and judiciary, history, geography.
  4. Week 6: Current affairs for the last 12 months. Science in daily life.
  5. Weeks 7 and 8: Full 100-question tests in 90 minutes, every second day. Track your score after negative marking.
  6. Week 9: Revise weak topics. Download the admit card from sci.gov.in when it appears.

Take the full 100-question mock on this pattern, 90 minutes, 0.25 negative.

Frequently Asked Questions

The advertisement names four areas, 25 questions each: General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English and General Awareness. It does not print a topic list under them.

One and a half hours for 100 questions. There is no sectional time limit printed.

Yes. The interview carries 25 marks and you need 13 to qualify.
