Overview
The Madras High Court wants 115 people to run e-Sewa Kendras on contract. The notification is No. 217/2026, dated 23 September 2026. Applications close on 29 September 2026. The only form that counts is the one on mhc.tn.gov.in/esk_rec.
This is public-facing computer work inside the court system, not a clerical post with a pay scale and pension. The consolidated pay printed in the notice is Rs 15,000 a month.
Nature of work
You answer people who walk in and ask the status of a case, the next date, or where a particular court sits. You help with video-conference hearings. You help people file petitions online: scan the papers, attach an e-signature, upload them, and note the filing number. You help with certified copies, e-stamp and e-payment, and Aadhaar-based digital signatures. You explain how to download the eCourts app, how to reach legal services authorities, and how a traffic challan can be dealt with in a virtual court.
The same list says you attend when the office needs you, including outside court hours and on court holidays. Twelve days of casual leave are allowed in a year. Leave on both sides of a weekend or a holiday, which the notice calls sandwich leave, is not allowed. No travelling allowance is paid for the interview, or for covering another e-Sewa Kendra.

Chennai has the largest share, 11. Thoothukudi and Tiruvallur have 6 each, and so does Puducherry. Several districts have a single post, so the written score will matter more there simply because fewer people can be taken.
How selection works
The notice gives two stages, then a merit list.
The written-cum-skill test lasts 60 minutes. The written part is 25 objective questions, one mark each, and you need 10 marks to qualify. The topics are Windows and Linux, networking, documents and PDF, video conferencing, hardware, and the internet. The skill part is also 25 marks, with the same qualifying mark of 10, and it is practical: scanning and OCR, PDF to text, LibreOffice, setting an IP address, and fixing hardware and drivers. From the people who qualify, the notice calls candidates to the viva voce in the ratio of 1:3 on the written-cum-skill marks. If two people have the same marks, both are called. The viva voce is out of 50. You need 20 to qualify. The board is judging alertness, computer skill, networks, databases, operating systems, attitude and conduct.
The final list is the total of the written-cum-skill marks and the viva voce. If totals are equal, the older candidate is placed above. There is no application fee, and the notice does not mention negative marking.
A timed 25-question paper, on the 60-minute clock the notice gives for the whole written-cum-skill test, is on the practice page. The skill test cannot be reproduced as multiple choice. Practise that on a computer: scan a page, run OCR, merge two PDFs, and set an IP address in Windows and in Linux.
Documents and apply link
Register on the portal, then actually submit the application. The notice says registration by itself is not an application. Use a computer, not a phone. Apply for one district only. Keep the documents that prove the degree the notice names. The test centre is the Principal District Court campus of that district, or another place the district court notifies. Dates will be posted on the apply site and the district court site. Nothing is posted to your house.
The recruitment is on merit. The notice warns applicants not to pay anyone who promises an appointment.
