Tech Mahindra International Voice Interview Prep: HR, VNA and Ops Rounds
How to clear Tech Mahindra's international voice walk-ins in Bengaluru and Hyderabad: the HR round, the VNA voice test, the operations mock call, and how to answer the night-shift question.
Tech Mahindra is running two long international voice drives in October 2026: Electronic City Phase II in Bengaluru until 30 October, and Bahadurpally in Hyderabad until 13 November. The Hyderabad listing names the rounds as HR, VNA and Operations. The Bengaluru listing does not name its rounds, but it is the same type of international voice hiring, so prepare for the same three. This guide covers each one.

How the rounds run

The VNA is the round you cannot talk your way through on the day, so it deserves most of your practice. The HR round mostly screens for eligibility and shift willingness.
The HR round
HR wants three things settled: your background, your shift comfort and your joining date.
"Tell me about yourself." Keep it to 45 to 60 seconds. Use this order:
- Name and where you are from
- Your highest qualification and the year
- Any work or customer-facing experience, even part-time
- Why you want this job
A sample: "I'm Priya from Tumkur. I finished my BCom in 2025. For six months I worked part-time at a mobile store, where I handled customer complaints and returns. I want to work in international customer support because I like solving problems on the phone, and I want to build a career in a large company."
"Are you comfortable with night shifts?" The Hyderabad drive is on UK timing and the Bengaluru drive is on nights. HR has heard "yes, no problem" hundreds of times. Give a reason it will work for you:
"Yes. I live in a PG within the cab area, and my family knows the timing. I've already tried staying up on a night schedule for a week to see how it feels."
"Why not a back-office job?" Say you prefer talking to people and that voice work builds skills you can grow with, such as communication and handling pressure.
"When can you join?" Freshers should say immediately or give a date within a week. If you are working, give your exact notice period.
The VNA test
VNA means voice and accent. It is usually a computer test with headphones and a microphone. The sections vary, but most include:
- Repeat: listen to a sentence and say it back exactly
- Read aloud: read a short passage clearly
- Short answers: answer a simple question in a word or phrase
- Sentence builds: put jumbled phrases into a correct sentence
- Story retell: listen to a short story and retell it in your own words
What it checks:

Things that lower your score:
- Speaking too fast because you are nervous
- Dropping the last word of a sentence
- Long silences while you think
- Adding "like", "basically" or "actually" to every sentence
You do not need a foreign accent. Clear, neutral Indian English scores well.
The operations mock call
The team lead plays a customer. Common scenarios:
- Double charge: "I was charged twice for my order."
- Late delivery: "My parcel was due three days ago."
- Service not working: "My internet has been down since morning."
Use a simple structure every time:
- Greet: "Thank you for calling, my name is Rahul. How can I help you today?"
- Listen fully. Do not interrupt.
- Repeat the problem: "So you were charged twice for the same order. I understand that's frustrating."
- Verify: "Can I have your order number, please?"
- Solve or route: "I can see the second charge. I'll raise a refund now; it usually takes five to seven working days."
- Confirm: "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
- Close politely.
If the customer gets angry, slow down and lower your voice. Apologise for the trouble, not for things you did not do: "I'm sorry you've had to deal with this" works better than "I'm sorry, it's our fault."
A five-day practice plan

Because both drives run for weeks, you can take these five days and still attend.
On the day
- Write the HR reference name from the listing at the top of your resume.
- Carry your PAN card in original; the Hyderabad listing asks for it.
- Keep your phone charged. Next-round updates often come by SMS.
- Ask about the cab radius and the fixed monthly pay before you accept.
Tech Mahindra does not charge for interviews or joining. Anyone asking for money is not from the company.

VNA stands for voice and accent. It is a computer-based test where you listen to clips, repeat sentences, read passages aloud and answer short questions. It checks clarity, pace, grammar and listening, not whether you sound foreign.
Not for the Bengaluru Electronic City drive in October 2026, which lists graduation as not required. The Hyderabad Bahadurpally drive accepts 12th pass and above, but not candidates in regular education.
The October 2026 listings give Rs 3 to 5.5 LPA in Bengaluru and Rs 2.75 to 5.5 LPA in Hyderabad. Freshers usually start near the lower end. Ask HR for the fixed monthly figure.
