RRB Station Master 2026 Syllabus: Pattern Awaited, Prepare the Core Subjects

No official RRB Station Master 2026 pattern is published yet. This page covers the subjects RRB aptitude exams usually test, a 30-day plan that works for any pattern, and what to check once the CEN is out.

Status of the pattern

The Station Master CEN (08/2026) is not yet published on the official RRB employment-notices page, as checked on 21 October 2026. A Railway Board notice dated 7 October 2026 is reported to create a separate Station Master CEN. That board notice was not read directly.

Some websites give a single 100-mark CBT in 120 minutes, and others give two CBTs of 100 and 120 marks. These descriptions conflict, and none is in an official notice. Prepare the subjects below, then check the CEN for the exact pattern, marks, time and negative marking.

Topics to prepare

Mathematics. Number system (HCF, LCM, divisibility), percentage, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, averages, simple and compound interest, time and work, speed, distance and time, and basic algebra and mensuration.

Data interpretation. Bar, line and pie charts, tables with several columns, caselets, and percentage change questions.

Reasoning. Series (number and letter), analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, ranking, seating arrangements, and syllogisms.

Basic science. School-level physics (motion, force, light, electricity), chemistry (elements, compounds, acids and bases, everyday chemistry) and biology (human body, nutrition, plants).

English. Reading comprehension, sentence correction, vocabulary and error spotting.

General awareness. Current affairs of the last six months, with railway and national news. Keep this on your list in case the CEN includes it.

30-day plan

Days 1 to 7: Mathematics. Cover number system, percentage, ratio, averages and interest. Solve 20 questions a day and write down each formula you miss.

Days 8 to 14: Data and reasoning. Practise table and graph sets with a timer. Then move to series, coding, seating and puzzles.

Days 15 to 21: Science and English. Short notes on school-level science. Two comprehension passages a day, timed.

Days 22 to 26: Mixed sets. A 50-question mixed set each day. Log each error by topic.

Days 27 to 30: Full mocks. One timed paper of about 100 questions, then review every answer. Spend the last two days on your weakest topic.

The practice set gives you a mixed timed sample.

After the CEN

Once the CEN is published, read these first:

  1. The exam pattern, marks, time and negative marking.
  2. The eligibility, age reference date and relaxation table.
  3. The fee, and whether it is refunded.
  4. Any document verification or medical standard.

Then adjust your plan to the official pattern. Check rrbapply.gov.in for the notice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not yet. The Station Master CEN (08/2026) was not on the RRB employment-notices page when checked on 21 October 2026. Several websites describe a pattern, but they do not agree, so do not plan to a single pattern until the CEN is out.

Mathematics, data interpretation, logical and mental reasoning, basic science and reading comprehension. These are the subjects RRB aptitude exams have usually tested, and they are useful whatever the final CEN says.

Use the 30-day plan below. It builds speed and accuracy in each subject, and it works whether the final test is one paper or two.
