Canara Bank Apprentice 2026-27: No Exam. How the Merit List and Language Test Work
Canara Bank's 3,500 graduate apprentice seats have no written exam. Merit is on class 12 or diploma percentage within one state. The only test is the local language, and a class 10 or 12 mark sheet can exempt you.
The Canara Bank graduate apprentice engagement for 2026-27 has no written exam and no syllabus. This page explains what replaces them: a merit list on school marks, a language check, and document verification. Dates and eligibility are on the recruitment page.
There is no syllabus, because there is no exam
The selection has four steps:
- State-wise merit list on the percentage in class 12 (HSC or 10+2) or diploma, highest first. If two candidates have the same percentage, the older one ranks higher.
- Document verification. The bank checks everything you entered. A mismatch with the form disqualifies the application.
- Local language test, only if your class 10 or 12 mark sheet or certificate does not show the language of the state.
- Medical fitness as per the bank's requirement.
The minimum is 60 percent, or 55 percent for SC, ST and PwBD. Fractions are ignored, so 59.99 is treated as below 60.
The real competition is inside the state you choose. A candidate with 78 percent may be well inside the list in one state and outside it in another. The advertisement does not publish past cutoffs, so the seat count and category split below are the only hard numbers available.
How your percentage is counted
The advertisement defines it: total marks obtained in all subjects, divided by the maximum marks of all subjects, times 100. Do not enter a best-of-five figure. The definition says all subjects.
If your board awarded a CGPA or OGPA, convert it by the board's own rule. At document verification you need a certificate from the board or university that states the conversion rule and your percentage.
Choose between class 12 and diploma carefully if you have both, because the merit uses the one you enter. Enter the figure exactly as your documents will prove it.

If you studied in Karnataka but your school did not teach Kannada, you will take the test in Karnataka. If you apply for Uttar Pradesh with Hindi on your class 10 mark sheet, you are exempt.

Some combinations have no seat at all. Haryana and Punjab have no ST seat. Mizoram, Sikkim, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu have only unreserved seats. The advertisement says the numbers are provisional and may change with the bank's needs.
