UPSSSC PET 2026 Practice Set: 20 Timed Questions with Answers
A 20-question UPSSSC PET practice set across arithmetic, reasoning, English, General Science and General Awareness, with answers and short explanations. Use it with a timer and the 0.25 negative mark rule.
How to use this set
This is a short practice set for the UPSSSC PET 2026, which is held on 25, 30 October and 1 November 2026. It has 20 questions, covering the main subject areas reported in the exam summaries. Use it as a timed drill, not as a full mock. A full PET mock is 100 questions in 2 hours.
Set a timer for 25 minutes (about 1 minute 15 seconds per question). Mark each answer as you go. Keep a note of questions you guessed, because the guesses matter as much as the wrong answers under the 0.25 negative marking rule.

Answer key and explanations
Q1. Answer: B (Rs 400). Selling price = 120 percent of cost. So cost = 480 × 100 ÷ 120 = Rs 400.
Q2. Answer: B (36). Total of five numbers = 5 × 28 = 140. Total of four numbers = 4 × 26 = 104. Removed number = 140 − 104 = 36.
Q3. Answer: B (42). The differences are 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. The next difference is 12, so 30 + 12 = 42.
Q4. Answer: C (72 km/h). Speed = 120 m ÷ 6 s = 20 m/s. Convert: 20 × 18 ÷ 5 = 72 km/h.
Q5. Answer: A (UBCMF). In CLOCK, each letter moves forward by one: C→D, L→M, O→P, C→D, K→L. So DMPDL. Apply the same shift to TABLE: T→U, A→B, B→C, L→M, E→F. So UBCMF.
Q6. Answer: C (Mother). The woman's mother has only one daughter, which is the woman herself. The man's mother is that only daughter, so the man's mother is the woman.
Q7. Answer: B (submitted). The present perfect "has" needs the past participle, so "submitted".
Q8. Answer: B (Scarce). "Abundant" means existing in large quantity. The opposite is "scarce".
Q9. Answer: C (Burning of paper). Burning produces new substances (ash, gases) and is a chemical change. Melting, dissolving and stretching are physical changes.
Q10. Answer: C (Kidneys). The kidneys filter blood and produce urine.
Q11. Answer: B (B. R. Ambedkar). Ambedkar chaired the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly.
Q12. Answer: B (Godavari). The Godavari, at about 1,465 km, is the longest river lying entirely within India. The Ganga and Brahmaputra flow into neighbouring countries, and the Narmada, though entirely Indian, is shorter.
Q13. Answer: C (Article 32). Article 32 gives the right to move the Supreme Court for enforcement of fundamental rights, which is called the Right to Constitutional Remedies.
Q14. Answer: C (1942). The Quit India Movement was launched in August 1942.
Q15. Answer: C (30). Let the numbers be x (larger) and y. x + y = 50 and x − y = 10. Adding gives 2x = 60, so x = 30.
Q16. Answer: B (53.33). Total = 40 + 55 + 65 = 160. Average = 160 ÷ 3 = 53.33.
Q17. Answer: B (Accommodate). It has two c's and two m's.
Q18. Answer: C (Ohm). The ohm is the SI unit of electrical resistance.
Q19. Answer: A (Uncle). A is B's brother. C is B's sister, so C and B are siblings. C is D's father. So D's father's brother is A, which makes A D's uncle.
Q20. Answer: C (Uttar Pradesh). Uttar Pradesh had the largest population in the 2011 Census.
