Two practice sets for CSIR-NEERI/1/2026. Paper-I mental ability is +2 with no negative marking. The merit papers are +3 / −1 on general awareness, English and environmental science.
CSIR-NEERI/1/2026 closes at 5:00 pm on 15 October 2026. You sit a qualifying trade test, then 200 MCQs. Dates, post codes and the Rs 500 fee are on the recruitment page. Which paper counts is on the syllabus page.
Paper-I, no penalty
50 questions, 1 hour, +2, no negative marking, qualifying only. Attempt every question on the real paper. This set is 8 questions in 9 minutes 36 seconds, the same 72 seconds a question.

Merit papers, +3 / −1
Paper-II is 50 questions in 30 minutes. Paper-III is 100 questions in 90 minutes. Both use +3 / −1. They are marked only if you clear Paper-I. This set is 8 questions in 4 minutes 48 seconds, 36 seconds a question, the Paper-II pace.

Paper-I has no negative marking and does not count in merit. Paper-II and Paper-III deduct one mark for a wrong answer. Mixing those rules in one score would teach the wrong habit.
Neither fully. The 100-question subject paper follows the post you applied for. These items are environmental engineering common to NEERI's work: water, wastewater and basic chemistry, plus English and GK from Paper-II.
