One of the 13 posts is reserved for PwBD category (a), blindness and low vision. The advertisement places that reservation against the TO-04 block. Posting is NEERI Nagpur or a Regional Centre at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata or Hyderabad.
Age on 15 October 2026
Technical Assistant: 18 to 28. Technical Officer: 18 to 30. SC and ST get 5 years, OBC (NCL) 3 years, only on posts reserved for them. An SC candidate on an unreserved Technical Officer row is treated as UR for age and for selection. Fee exemption for SC and ST still stands on that unreserved row.
Selection: trade test first, then three papers that do not all count
A Screening Committee shortlists applications. Those shortlisted sit a trade test in the relevant discipline. It is qualifying. Only those who pass it are invited for the written examination.
The written test is OMR or computer-based, 200 questions, 3 hours, bilingual except English Language. Technical Assistant papers are at graduation level. Technical Officer papers are at post-graduation / B.Tech level.
| Paper | Time | What | Marks | Negative marking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper-I | 1 hour | Mental ability, 50 questions | 100 ( +2 each ) | None |
| Paper-II | 30 minutes | General Awareness 25 + English Language 25 | 75 + 75 ( +3 each ) | −1 each wrong |
| Paper-III | 90 minutes | Concerned subject, 100 questions | 300 ( +3 each ) | −1 each wrong |
Paper-I is qualifying. Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only if you clear the Paper-I threshold the Selection Committee notifies before the exam. Merit is Paper-II plus Paper-III. Paper-I does not join that total.
Ties, after CSIR circular 5-1(211)/2014-PD dated 30.05.2023, go in this order: higher marks in the concerned subject, then fewer negatives in that subject, then fewer negatives in the merit papers, then older date of birth, then earlier essential degree, then first name alphabetically.
Fee and the print-out that disappears
Rs 500 via State Bank Collect, with the e-receipt uploaded on the portal. SC, ST, PwBD, women and ex-servicemen are exempt if they upload the supporting document. Applications without the fee in a non-exempt category are rejected.
After 5:00 pm on 15 October 2026 you cannot print the form or the payment details from the portal. Save both the same afternoon you submit.
Government and CSIR employees produce Proforma VI (NOC) at the computer-based or written examination, not only at joining.
The three-paper marking, and what Paper-III looks like by discipline, is on the syllabus page. A practice set that uses +2 with no penalty on Paper-I items and +3 / −1 on the rest is on the practice page.
