JKSSB Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026 invites online applications for 2,863 Class IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker posts across Jammu and Kashmir departments. Forms on jkssb.nic.in run from 5 October 2026 to 3 November 2026.

This is a domicile-only drive. The board can increase or decrease vacancies before the final select list, and the advertisement stays subject to court orders.

Where the 2,863 posts sit

Annexure-A is long because cadres are split three ways:

Cadre typeWhat it means for you
UT CadrePosts in Estates, Home, Transport and allied UT departments
Divisional CadreJammu division and Kashmir division blocks (PWD R&B and other departments list the largest MTS counts here)
District CadreDistrict-wise agriculture, animal husbandry and allied Class IV rows

Each row has an item number, department name, post title (MTS or Sanitation Worker) and vacancy count. Apply only to items you qualify for; the PDF warns against incompatible multiple applications.

Age on 1 January 2026

Open Merit candidates must be 18 to 40, born between 2 January 1986 and 1 January 2008. Reserved categories get higher limits in the table on page 2. Read your row before you pay Rs 500.

Selection is not interview-only

Annexure-D ties selection to a written test and additional marks under S.O.184 of 2020 (Jammu and Kashmir Class IV Special Recruitment Rules). If you are relying only on matric marks without understanding the S.O. weightage, read Annexure-D before you apply.

Practical filing tips

  • One application per item where the notification restricts multiple posts; the PDF warns against applying to incompatible item numbers.
  • Reservation certificates must match JKSSB formats; other state formats are rejected.
  • Fee is Rs 500 with no refund. Bank chargebacks are not entertained.

The syllabus page explains the written test and S.O.184. A short eligibility quiz is on the practice page.
