72 for men and 54 for women, total 126, spread across 28 sports printed in the PDF (athletics through kayaking, rowing, mountain-bike cycling, karate and the rest of that table). Do not assume a sport is open unless your event is in that table.

The sports window that most repeat-sites skip

Only participation or medals from 1 January 2024 to 1 November 2026 count. That is the period printed against Para-4(C).

International events need clearance of the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. National events are Senior or Junior National Championships of a federation recognised by that Department, or National Games of the Indian Olympic Association, and you need a medal or a position up to third. Inter-University events are those of the Association of Indian Universities, the Inter University Sports Board, or Khelo India University Games with Department of Sports authorisation, again with a medal or a position up to third in the finals. Khelo India Youth Games count only in the age category above 18, or Khelo India Winter Games, medal or position up to third in the finals.

Certificates must already exist on the recruitment date. You cannot apply on a promise that the certificate will arrive later.

Marks: one medal, and a floor of 10

Marks are taken from the table in the detailed advertisement. Only one highest medal or participation level is used. Two golds do not add. Two medals in the same meet count as the higher one.
