Who is rejected before the marks are compared
The pass year of the essential qualification must be 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. The course must be regular. A postgraduate is not considered. A person who has already done training or a job for one year or more after the essential qualification is not considered.
You also need a valid enrolment number on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal, nats.education.gov.in. The form asks for it. An application without it, or with an invalid number, is rejected.
If the mark sheet gives a CGPA and does not print a percentage or a conversion formula, the form tells you to take percentage as CGPA times 9.5.
Reservation follows the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, as amended. SC, ST, OBC, PwD and EWS certificates are produced at document verification. The advertisement does not print a category-wise breakup of the 50 seats.
After the form arrives
PXE shortlists on the percentage in the essential qualification. Shortlisted candidates are called for a written test or an interview at Chandipur. The offer, if any, comes by email. You have to download it yourself. A wrong email address, or a mail that lands in spam, is your loss. The advertisement says PXE will not make up for that.
There is no TA or DA for the interview or for joining, and no accommodation or transport during the year of training. The selected person signs a one-year contract. The training is not an appointment in DRDO.

Educational Qualification
- Graduate apprentice: B.Tech in the branch of the row you apply for, through regular mode.
- Technician apprentice: a diploma in the branch of the row you apply for, through regular mode.
- Register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal and write that enrolment number on the form.
- A postgraduate degree makes you ineligible. So does one year or more of training or a job after the essential qualification.
