Cognizant's Sunday 18 October 2026 walk-in at Hinjewadi Phase 3, Pune is for Senior Process Executives in international insurance voice. The job description asks for 1 to 4 years of US insurance voice experience, preferably in property and casualty (P&C), auto, homeowners, claims or policy servicing. Details are on the Cognizant Pune walk-in page.

This guide assumes you already work in customer service. It focuses on what an insurance operations interviewer will check.

What the interviewers test

AreaWhat they look for
Domain knowledgeCan you explain policy and claims terms simply and correctly?
Call handlingDo you verify the caller, set expectations and document the call?
ComplianceDo you avoid promising outcomes you cannot guarantee?
ExperienceCan you describe your last process, systems and metrics clearly?
Shift fitHave you worked US nights continuously, and can you keep doing it?

A common trap is promising a claim outcome. In insurance, the agent explains the process and status. The adjuster decides payment. Never say "your claim will be approved."

Insurance terms in plain English

Be ready to explain each of these in one or two sentences, as if to a caller.

TermPlain explanation
PremiumWhat you pay, monthly or yearly, to keep the policy active
DeductibleThe part of a claim you pay before the insurer pays the rest
Coverage limitThe most the insurer will pay for a covered loss
EndorsementA change to your existing policy, such as adding a driver or a car
Declarations pageThe summary page showing who and what is covered, limits and deductibles
First notice of loss (FNOL)Your first report of an accident or damage, which opens a claim
AdjusterThe person who investigates the claim and decides what is paid
Comprehensive (auto)Covers damage not caused by a collision, such as theft, fire or hail
Collision (auto)Covers damage to your car from hitting another vehicle or object
LiabilityCovers damage or injury you cause to other people or their property
LapseWhen a policy ends because the premium was not paid
ReinstatementBringing a lapsed policy back into force

Three mock calls

1. Claim status

Caller: "I filed a claim for hail damage two weeks ago and nobody has called me."

A strong answer:

  1. Verify identity: name, policy number, and the security questions your process uses.
  2. Check the claim and read the status accurately: "I can see the claim was opened on the 2nd and assigned to an adjuster on the 5th."
  3. Set expectations without promising: "The adjuster reviews the inspection photos before contacting you. I'll add a note asking them to call you, and I'll send you their direct contact details."
  4. Document the call and confirm the next step.

2. Adding a driver

Caller: "My son just got his licence. I want to add him to my auto policy."

Explain that this is an endorsement, collect the driver's details your process requires, and tell the caller that the premium may change and when the change takes effect. Do not quote a new premium unless the system gives you one.

3. Lapse due to non-payment

Caller: "I just got a letter saying my policy was cancelled."

Check the reason and dates. Explain the lapse plainly, then explain whether reinstatement is possible under the policy's rules and what the customer must do. Stay calm and factual; this caller is often worried about driving uninsured.

Presenting your experience

Because this is an SPE hire, the HR and operations rounds will spend time on your last job. Prepare a two-minute summary:

  • Process: which client type and line of business (for example, US auto insurance, inbound policy servicing)
  • Volume: calls handled per shift on a normal day
  • Metrics: quality score, average handling time, customer satisfaction, attendance
  • Systems: policy or claims platforms and CRM tools you used
  • Achievements: one example of a difficult call you resolved, with the outcome

Salary and notice period. Carry your last three payslips and your offer and relieving letters. HR will base your offer on your current CTC and your test scores. Give your exact notice period, and whether you can buy it out.

Night shifts. Say how long you have worked US hours continuously. If you have a gap, explain it honestly.

The night before

  • Revise the term table above out loud.
  • Prepare your two-minute experience summary and time it.
  • Put your payslips, letters, ID and degree documents in one folder.
  • Check your route to the Academy Building, 4th floor, Hinjewadi Phase 3. Reporting is 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Cognizant does not charge candidates for interviews, tests or offer letters.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 18 October 2026 drive is for Senior Process Executives with 1 to 4 years of international insurance voice experience. Some sites called it a fresher drive, but the job description asks for experience.

Property and casualty insurance covers damage to property, such as a home or car, and liability for injury or damage caused to others. Auto and homeowners policies are typical P&C products handled in US customer service work.

The premium is what the customer pays to keep the policy active. The deductible is the amount the customer pays towards a claim before the insurer pays the rest.
