Objective test

100 multiple choice questions in 1½ hours for 100 marks. 0.25 mark deducted per wrong answer.

Recent Supreme Court JCA notifications split the objective paper across General English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, Constitution and judiciary provisions, Supreme Court Rules 2013, Supreme Court Officers and Servants Rules 1961, and Computer Knowledge. Read the detailed PDF on sci.gov.in for the exact topic weights in this cycle.

Tentative date: 20 November 2026. Centres are notified with the admit card.

Typing and descriptive

Typing: 10 minutes, 35 w.p.m. in English on computer, 50 marks, qualify with 25. Mistakes are counted strictly; up to 3% errors of total words typed is the usual tolerance printed in Court recruitments.

Descriptive English: 2 hours, 100 marks, qualify with 50. Typically comprehension, précis and essay. Answer books are evaluated only if you qualify the typing test.

Shortlisting ratios

If many candidates score above the objective qualifying mark, the Court may shortlist in ratio 1:10 for typing and descriptive tests. After those stages, interview calls are often capped at 1:3 against tentative vacancies among those who qualified all three tests.

Practice on stage rules and computer basics is on the practice page.
