How to use this set

The UIIC AO prelims is listed for 22 October 2026 (tentative), with 100 marks in 60 minutes and a 20-minute limit on each section. This set follows that mix: English, reasoning and quantitative aptitude, with a few general awareness and computer questions to test the Mains topics.

Set a timer for 20 minutes per block: first the English block (Q1 to Q7), then the reasoning block (Q8 to Q14), then the quant and general awareness block (Q15 to Q20). Stop at each block's time, even if you have not finished.

Per the notice, one fourth of the question marks is deducted for each wrong answer. Use that rule when you score the set.

Answer key and explanations

Q1. B (Frank).

Q2. B (Modern).

Q3. B (were). With "neither ... nor", the verb agrees with the nearer subject, "students", which is plural.

Q4. B (Omniscient).

Q5. B (Almost never).

Q6. B (Receive). The rule is "i before e except after c".

Q7. B (He has gone to the bank.). The past participle of "go" is "gone".

Q8. B (38). The differences are 3, 5, 7, 9, 11. So 27 + 11 = 38.

Q9. A (EPH). Each letter moves forward by one: D→E, O→P, G→H.

Q10. D (Cube). The others are two-dimensional shapes. A cube is three-dimensional.

Q11. C (8th). Position from the bottom = 10 − 3 + 1 = 8.

Q12. B (No). The statements say nothing about policies being oral, so the conclusion does not follow.

Q13. C (32). Each term doubles the previous one.

Q14. A (Uncle). B and C are sisters, and C is D's mother, so B is D's aunt. A is B's brother, so A is D's uncle.

Q15. C (90). 15 percent of 600 = 0.15 × 600 = 90.

Q16. B (15). Total parts = 7. Each part = 5. x = 3 × 5 = 15.

Q17. C (20). Sum = 60. Average = 60 ÷ 3 = 20.

Q18. B (Rs 1,200). SI = 10,000 × 6 × 2 / 100 = 1,200.

Q19. C (Hyderabad). IRDAI is headquartered in Hyderabad.

Q20. B (8). One byte = 8 bits.

Next steps

If you scored 12 to 16, add the Mains-style objective sets, which run longer and use more general awareness. If you scored above 16, take a full timed mock on the Mains pattern and write one descriptive letter.

For the notification, admit card and eligibility, read the UIIC AO exam post. The full section list is in the UIIC AO syllabus.
