RRB Group D Result 2026 (CEN 09/2025): Status and PET Rules
The CEN 09/2025 CBT result has not been declared and no RRB has given a date. What the result will contain, how the 3x PET shortlist works, the minimum marks, PET timings broken down to lap pace, and the documents for verification.
The Railway Recruitment Boards have not declared the CBT result for CEN 09/2025, the Level 1 (Group D) recruitment. As of 15 October 2026, no RRB has published a result date either. This page covers what is fixed by the notice: how the result is used, who is called for the PET, the standards you will be tested on, and what to bring after that.
The rules below are from CEN 09/2025 itself. Where a figure comes from news reports and not from an RRB, we say so.
Where the result stands
| Stage | Status |
|---|---|
| CBT | Held from 3 to 25 August 2026 |
| Provisional answer key and response sheet | Released on 7 September 2026 |
| Objections | Closed on 15 September 2026 |
| Final answer key | Not yet released |
| CBT result and PET shortlist | Not declared, no date announced |
| PET, document verification, medical | Dates to come through RRB websites |
The CBT, answer-key and objection dates above are as reported in the press. CEN 09/2025 itself does not fix any of them.
Several websites give an exact result date. None of those dates comes from an RRB notice. CEN 09/2025 says CBT dates and results are uploaded on the official RRB websites listed at para 24.0 (A). Check the RRB you applied through, from rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and ignore result links shared on messaging apps.
What the result will contain
The CBT result for a Group D CEN is a PET shortlist, not a final selection. Expect each RRB or RRC to publish:
- A list of roll numbers shortlisted for PET, Railway or RRC-wise.
- Cut-off marks by community for that Railway or RRC. These are normalised marks, because the CBT ran over many shifts.
- A scorecard link where you log in to see your own normalised score.
The CBT paper was 100 questions in 90 minutes, with one-third of a mark off for each wrong answer:
| Section | Questions |
|---|---|
| General Science | 25 |
| Mathematics | 25 |
| General Intelligence and Reasoning | 30 |
| General Awareness and Current Affairs | 20 |
Your raw score from the answer key will not match your normalised score exactly. Normalisation can move it either way, depending on how hard your shift was compared with the others.
Minimum marks to be considered
CEN 09/2025 sets these minimum percentages for shortlisting:
| Community | Minimum |
|---|---|
| UR | 40% |
| EWS | 40% |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 30% |
| SC | 30% |
| ST | 30% |
PwBD candidates can get a relaxation of up to 2 marks if there are not enough PwBD candidates for the reserved posts.
These are floors, not cut-offs. The actual cut-off is set by the 3x rule below and will be far higher than 40 percent in most Railways for UR.
The 3x PET shortlist in numbers
Para 14.2 of the CEN calls candidates for the PET at three times the community-wise vacancy of each Railway or RRC, on CBT merit. Railways can raise or lower the ratio. After the PET, document verification is called at 1:1 against vacancies, on CBT merit among those who passed the PET.
Here is what that means at national level:
| Figure | Source | |
|---|---|---|
| Vacancies in the CEN table, 31 January 2026 | 21,997 | CEN 09/2025 |
| Vacancies after February corrigenda | About 22,195 | As widely reported; check your RRC's revised Annexure B |
| PET places at 3x | About 66,000 | Our calculation |
RRBs have not published how many candidates sat the CBT, so we have left out the attendance figures quoted elsewhere.
The ratio is applied per Railway or RRC and per community, not across India. A Railway with many posts and fewer applicants will have a lower cut-off than a small one, even within the same RRB. Each RRB's corrigendum-revised Annexure B shows the vacancy figure your shortlist will be built on.
PET standards and how they are tested
| Male | Female | |
|---|---|---|
| Weight carry | 35 kg for 100 m in 2 minutes | 20 kg for 100 m in 2 minutes |
| Run | 1,000 m in 4 minutes 15 seconds | 1,000 m in 5 minutes 40 seconds |
| Attempts | One chance each | One chance each |
Note 3 of para 14.2 explains how the test is run:
- The weight carry comes first. Fail it and you are out at that point. You do not get to run.
- The weight is a sandbag with no handle. You lift it from a bench at about waist height and carry it any way you like. It must not touch the ground before the finish point.
- The run follows after a recovery gap.
- The PET is qualifying only. It adds no marks, and your merit stays as it was in the CBT.
Carrying 100 metres in 2 minutes is only about 3 km/h, a slow walk. Speed is not the problem. Grip is. A 35 kg sandbag has no handles and shifts as you walk, and putting it down at any point ends the attempt, since you get one chance. Practise with a filled sack, not a kettlebell or a bag with straps. Carry it on the shoulder or hugged to the chest, and find out which way you can hold for two minutes.
What the run means in lap times
Most practice grounds are 400-metre tracks, so 1,000 metres is two and a half laps.
| Male | Female | |
|---|---|---|
| Target time | 4:15 | 5:40 |
| Per 100 m | 25.5 seconds | 34 seconds |
| Per 400 m lap | 1:42 | 2:16 |
| Average speed | About 14.1 km/h | About 10.6 km/h |
For men, 1:42 per lap is a steady run, not a jog. If you cannot hold 1:50 per lap for two laps today, you have real work to do, and regular interval runs are the usual way to build that pace. Do not leave it until the PET call letter arrives. Neither the result date nor the PET dates are fixed yet, and you cannot ask for a later slot. Para 14.0(d) rules out postponement requests.
Pregnant candidates: a female candidate who declares a pregnancy before the PET, confirmed by a test, is declared temporarily unfit. Her vacancy is kept reserved. She is re-tested six weeks after the confinement, on a fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
Who skips the PET
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempt, but must pass the medical examination prescribed for PwBD.
- Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA) are exempt. Those trained in Railway establishments also get weightage for their NCVT marks in merit, if they entered those marks in the application.
- Ex-Servicemen are exempt from the PET, but must pass the written test and the medical standard of the post, like direct recruits.
Document verification and medical
Candidates who pass the PET are called for document verification (DV) at 1:1 against vacancies, Railway or RRC-wise, on CBT merit. Extra candidates may be called to cover those who do not turn up. Being called does not give you a right to appointment.
Points from the CEN that decide DV outcomes:
- Date of birth and name must match your Class 10 certificate.
- OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be in the formats annexed to the CEN. For EWS, the Income and Asset Certificate is for financial year 2024-25.
- EBC fee-concession proof (Annexure IIIA certificate, BPL card or Izzat MST) issued after the application closing date is not accepted.
- Serving government or PSU employees must bring a No Objection Certificate from their employer on the day of DV.
- Your signature must match the one captured in the application at every stage: CBT, DV, medical and appointment.
The medical standard for each post is printed in Annexure A. It ranges from A2 for Pointsman B to B1 or C1 for many workshop and S&T posts. If you opted for an A-standard post and wear glasses, check your eyesight against that standard before the medical. Railways give no alternative post if you fail it.
Ties in merit are broken by age, with the older candidate placed higher. If the dates of birth are the same, the alphabetical order of the given name decides, not the surname.
Fee refund
Under para 7, the fee is refunded only to candidates who appeared in the CBT, less bank charges:
| Fee paid | Refund on appearing |
|---|---|
| Rs 500 | Rs 400 |
| Rs 250 (concession categories) | Rs 250 |
Para 7.4 says the refund is credited only to the bank account seeded with your Aadhaar number, "in due course". If no account is linked to your Aadhaar, link one through your bank. If you did not sit the CBT, nothing is refunded.
We will update this page when an RRB publishes the result notice. For railway notices that are open now, see RRB NTPC Graduate vs Undergraduate 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. As of 15 October 2026, no RRB has declared the CEN 09/2025 CBT result or published a result date. Exact dates quoted on some websites are not RRB announcements.
On the website of the RRB you applied through, reachable from rrb.indianrailways.gov.in. CEN 09/2025 says CBT results are uploaded on the official RRB websites listed at para 24.0 (A).
Three times the community-wise vacancies of each Railway or RRC, on CBT merit. Railways can raise or lower this ratio. With about 22,000 posts, that is roughly 66,000 candidates across India.
40 percent for UR and EWS, and 30 percent for OBC-NCL, SC and ST. PwBD candidates can get a relaxation of up to 2 marks if there are not enough PwBD candidates. Clearing the minimum does not guarantee a PET call, because the 3x shortlist is filled from the top.
Lift and carry 35 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes without putting the weight down, in one chance. Then run 1,000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds, also in one chance.
Lift and carry 20 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes without putting it down, in one chance. Then run 1,000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds. Transgender candidates are tested on the female standards.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Course Completed Act Apprentices and Ex-Servicemen. PwBD candidates must still pass the medical examination prescribed for them.
The older candidate is placed higher. If the dates of birth are the same, the alphabetical order of the given name, not the surname, decides.
