PFRDA Grade A Result 2026: 5,623 Shortlisted for 30 Posts
PFRDA has declared the Phase I result for Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) 2026. 5,623 roll numbers are shortlisted for Phase II on 20 November 2026. Stream-wise counts, competition ratio and how to prepare.
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has declared the Phase I result for Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) 2026. The notice is dated 4 November 2026 and refers to Advt. No. 03/2026 dated 3 September 2026. We counted 5,623 roll numbers in the 28-page result PDF. These candidates will sit Phase II on Friday, 20 November 2026.
There are only 30 posts in this cycle, so the next 13 days of preparation matter a great deal.
What was released
The notice on pfrda.org.in says candidates with the listed roll numbers qualified in the Phase I online exam held on 15 October 2026 (Thursday) and are shortlisted for Phase II. It adds four notes:
- The stream-wise lists are provisional, and PFRDA can correct errors later.
- Individual scores and cut-offs will be shared only after the whole recruitment is complete.
- Phase II will be held on 20 November 2026, and the call letter link will be on the PFRDA website shortly.
- Candidates should check pfrda.org.in regularly for updates.
The result has roll numbers only. There are no names, marks or category details.
Stream-wise shortlist
| Stream | Shortlisted for Phase II | Posts (as per reports) | Candidates per post |
|---|---|---|---|
| General | 5,355 | 25 | about 214 |
| Research | 180 | 2 | 90 |
| Official Language (Rajbhasha) | 75 | 1 | 75 |
| Actuary | 13 | 2 | about 7 |
| Total | 5,623 | 30 | about 187 |
The shortlisted counts are our tally of unique roll numbers under each stream heading in the official PDF.
How tough is Phase II?
For the General stream, about 214 candidates will compete for each post in Phase II. Interview calls go to a small multiple of the posts. If PFRDA calls about three candidates per post, only about one in 70 General-stream candidates who sit Phase II will reach the interview.
The Actuary stream is the opposite case: 13 candidates for 2 posts. Here the bar is the qualifying standard and the interview, not the crowd.
Why is the General shortlist so large? PFRDA screens with Phase I and does not count Phase I marks in the final merit. A wide Phase II list lets the descriptive and subject papers decide.
How to check the result
- Open pfrda.org.in.
- Click the notice Result of Phase-I (Online Examination) - Recruitment of Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) - 2026, published on 4 November 2026.
- Open the PDF (about 1 MB).
- Go to your stream heading and search your 10-digit roll number with Ctrl+F.
If you applied in two streams, check both lists.
Phase II exam pattern
Phase II has two papers, as per published reports on the advertisement:
| Paper | Type | Questions | Marks | Time | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper 1 | English descriptive (essay, précis, letter or report) | 3 | 100 | 60 min | one-third |
| Paper 2 | Stream subject, MCQ | 50 | 100 | 40 min | two-thirds |
Paper 2 has negative marking of one-quarter of the marks for each wrong answer. For the General stream it covers commerce, accountancy, management, finance, costing, the Companies Act, economics and the pension sector.
The interview follows for those who clear Phase II. Final merit uses Phase II and the interview, not Phase I.
Phase II call letter
PFRDA has not yet released the Phase II call letter. The notice says the download link will be on the website shortly, so check pfrda.org.in every day from now on.
When it is out:
- Log in with your registration number and password or date of birth.
- Check your name, photo, centre, reporting time and the documents listed.
- Carry a printed call letter, the same photo ID you used in Phase I and a passport-size photo.
How to prepare in 13 days
Days 1 to 4: pension sector. Read the PFRDA Act 2013, the NPS and Atal Pension Yojana basics, the tiers of NPS, recent PFRDA circulars and current subscriber and AUM figures from PFRDA's own publications. This area is unique to this exam and decides many Paper 2 questions.
Days 5 to 8: core subjects. Revise accounting standards, ratio analysis, costing methods, the Companies Act 2013 (directors, meetings, audit), and basic macroeconomics such as inflation, fiscal deficit and monetary policy.
Days 9 to 11: descriptive writing. Write one essay and one précis each day, timed. Aim for 250 to 300 words for the essay, with a clear introduction, two or three points and a short conclusion. Topics on pensions, financial inclusion, ageing and digital finance are good practice.
Days 12 and 13: mocks. Take two full 40-minute MCQ mocks. With one-quarter negative marking, skip a question unless you can rule out at least two options.
What to carry on 20 November
- The Phase II call letter, printed, with your photo pasted if the letter asks for it
- The same original photo ID you used in Phase I (Aadhaar, PAN, passport, voter ID or driving licence) and a photocopy
- A blue or black ball-point pen for rough work
- Scribe documents, if you use a scribe, in the format PFRDA published for Phase I
Report at the time on your call letter. Late entry is not allowed at online exam centres, and the descriptive paper starts on time.
Is PFRDA a good career choice?
PFRDA is one of India's financial sector regulators, alongside RBI, SEBI and IRDAI. Its Grade A officers start on a regulator pay scale that is higher than most public sector bank officer scales. The work is mostly policy, supervision and research, with regular hours and a Delhi base. The trade-off is a small cadre: with only about 30 posts a year, promotions depend on vacancies and can be slower than at larger regulators.
Pay and what comes after
Grade A officers at PFRDA start on a basic pay of Rs 62,500 in the scale Rs 62,500 to Rs 1,26,100, as per published reports. Gross monthly pay at entry is reported at about Rs 2 lakh including allowances. Probation is two years.
The role involves supervision of pension funds and intermediaries, policy research and subscriber services. It is a regulator job, so expect desk-based work at the Delhi head office or regional offices.
