60 percent (55 percent for SC, ST, PwBD) is counted across all subjects in all semesters. 59.99 percent is not 60 percent. The result must be published on or before 1 October 2026. Age 21 to 30 on that date, with the relaxations in the table, capped at 45.
Starting basic pay is Rs 82,485 in the scale 82485-4050(14)-139185-4390(4)-156745. Metropolitan take-home is printed as about Rs 1,14,000 a month, with NPS (PFRDA), gratuity, LTS, medical cover and company or leased housing.
Bond, Licentiate and where you sit
Probation is one year, extendable twice by six months. During probation you must pass the non-life Licentiate Examination of the Insurance Institute of India. Fail it inside the extended probation and the company can end the appointment.
Before joining you sign a four-year undertaking (including probation). Leave early and you owe one year's gross salary from the probation year, reduced by time already served, plus a stamped bond with two sureties who are not blood relatives. Leave or termination during probation also means returning all gross salary received plus Rs 25,000 towards training.
Specialists may have to remain in that specialisation for 10 years. Company Secretaries are posted primarily at Head Office, Kolkata. Everyone has a five-year minimum stay at the first posting, which can be anywhere in India.
Selection in brief
Phase-I is a 60-minute, 100-mark online objective test (English 30, Reasoning 35, Quant 35), separately timed. You must clear each section. About 15 times the vacancies are called to Phase-II.
Phase-II is a 250-mark objective test (3 hours, five sections for Generalists, six for Specialists including a 50-mark professional paper) plus a 30-minute, 30-mark descriptive English paper (essay, precis, comprehension). Descriptive is qualifying and is marked only if you clear the objective cut-offs. Wrong answers on objective papers (both phases) cost one-fourth of that question's marks. Unanswered questions have no penalty. English Language is in English only; other sections are bilingual.
Interview follows Phase-II. Final score is 80:20 Main objective to interview. A tie goes first to higher interview marks, then to the older candidate. A waiting list of up to 50 percent of vacancies may be used if offers are declined.

Educational Qualification
- Generalist (200 posts): graduate or postgraduate in any stream, at least 60 percent (55 percent for SC, ST, PwBD) in either degree, from a recognised university. Result must be declared on or before 1 October 2026.
- Specialists: Finance (CA or CMA plus a degree), Legal, IT, Automobile Engineers, Risk Engineers, Company Secretaries (ACS/FCS plus a degree), Agriculture (4-year graduate or postgraduate in Agriculture, Agricultural Biotechnology or Agricultural Engineering), with 60/55 percent as printed. Risk Engineers: any engineering except the IT and automobile rows. Automobile: automobile engineering, or any engineering plus a diploma of at least one year in automobile engineering.
- 59.99 percent is not 60 percent. CGPA needs a university conversion certificate. Apply for one discipline only.
