Summary

Delhi Technological University has opened online applications for 219 Assistant Professor posts under Advertisement Notice No. 04/2026, dated 22 October 2026. Applications open on 23 October 2026 at 11:00 AM and close on 7 December 2026 at 5:00 PM. The notice covers 24 disciplines, including backlog vacancies and a special drive for persons with benchmark disabilities.

If you hold a PG degree in one of these subjects and have research or teaching experience, this is one of the largest Assistant Professor drives at a Delhi central university this year. The selection is built on points, not a single exam, so the quality of your record matters as much as your degree.

Vacancies by discipline

The notice lists 24 disciplines. The largest counts are:

  • Computer Science and Engineering: 36 posts (UR 7, SC 1, ST 6, OBC 16, EWS 6)
  • Production Engineering: 20 posts
  • Civil Engineering: 20 posts
  • Mechanical Engineering: 18 posts
  • Applied Mathematics: 11 posts
  • Engineering Physics: 11 posts

Other disciplines include Applied Physics (15), Automobile Engineering (12), Management (DSM) (10), Information Technology (9), Biotechnology (6), Environmental Science and Engineering (6), Economics (USME) (1) and Geospatial Technology (6). The notice also lists Geospatial Science, Design, Humanities (English and Economics), Electrical, Electronics and Communication, and Software Engineering.

Category totals are UR 62, SC 27, ST 21, OBC 80, EWS 29, and PwBD 17 as a horizontal reservation. The notice says these numbers are provisional.

Eligibility

Academic qualification. A postgraduate degree with at least 55 percent marks, or an equivalent CGPA, in a relevant subject. Several disciplines also need NET, GATE or an equivalent qualification. The notice gives discipline-wise requirements and linked recruitment rules in Annexure-II.

Relaxation. SC, ST, OBC (NCL Delhi) and PwBD candidates get a 5 percent relaxation, which brings the minimum to 50 percent. Ph.D. holders who completed their Master's before 19 September 1991 also get that relaxation.

Age. The notice says there is no upper age limit for appointment.

Date of eligibility. Eligibility, age and experience are assessed on the closing date, 7 December 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Fees

  • UR and OBC: Rs 2,000, paid online
  • EWS, SC and ST: Rs 1,000
  • PwBD: exempt, when applying against a reserved post

The fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other recruitment. Pay only through the online gateway on the DTU portal.

How candidates are selected

The notice describes four stages, and it does not describe a written test:

  1. Academic record and research points. You fill in a points table covering your academic record, teaching and industry experience, research experience, research publications, Ph.D. and other scholarly credentials. Points are capped in each section. Keep proof for every claim.
  2. Document and point-mark verification. Shortlisted candidates bring originals and self-attested copies. If a document is missing, the candidature is cancelled and you cannot take the next stages.
  3. Presentation. Candidates present to the committee to assess teaching aptitude and ability. Dates are announced on the university website.
  4. Interview. After the presentation, you face the selection committee for domain knowledge and interview performance.

The final selection uses the academic record, experience and research performance, teaching aptitude, domain knowledge and interview performance together.

Documents and points

Expect to submit:

  • Mark sheets and degree certificates for every qualification
  • Ph.D. certificate or thesis front page, if you hold one
  • Front pages of research publications and proof for each point claimed
  • Teaching, research or industry experience certificates, with the period and nature of the work
  • Category certificate (EWS, SC, ST, OBC NCL Delhi or PwBD), valid on the closing date
  • Fee payment receipt

The printed copy of the online form must be signed on every page and sent in a sealed envelope to the Recruitment Cell, Room 818, 8th Floor, AB-3 Block, DTU, Shahbad Daulatpur, Bawana Road, Delhi 110042. The advertisement says the closing date for the printed copy will be announced on the university website.

What to do this week

  1. Check your discipline row in the table above and the matching recruitment rules link in Annexure-II.
  2. Compute your points using the table in the notice before you start the form. This tells you where your record is strong or weak.
  3. Gather proof. Scan every certificate, publication and experience letter. Keep originals ready for verification.
  4. Confirm the category certificate is valid on 7 December 2026, not only on the day you apply.
  5. Watch dtu.ac.in for the presentation schedule and the printed-copy deadline.
