That is 16. The institute can raise or cut the number. On 3407, if no suitable Project Associate-II is found, a Project Associate-I can be considered instead.
The note under the table is the pay rule for the associate posts that use it. Rs 31,000 for a Project Associate-I, and Rs 35,000 for a Project Associate-II, goes to a person selected through CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship, or GATE, or a national-level examination of DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER and the other bodies named there. Everyone else on those posts gets Rs 25,000 or Rs 28,000. A later clause says HRA is admissible under CSIR guidelines if the project has the funds. The table itself calls the amounts consolidated and fixed, so do not add HRA until the offer letter does.
Who should not apply
A person who has already served six years or more as project staff in CEERI or in any other CSIR laboratory is not eligible. The six years add up across laboratories and across the designations named in the advertisement, including Project Associate, JRF, SRF and Project Assistant. A shorter earlier spell leaves only the balance of the six years.
An AcSIR PhD student who already has a fellowship cannot apply. A student without a fellowship can apply only if the PhD topic matches the project, and only with the permission of the supervisor, the project investigator, and the Director. That permission is uploaded.
The first engagement is six months, or until the project work ends, whichever is earlier. It can be extended in steps of six months. It is not a route to absorption.
The interview
Shortlisted names go out by email and on the institute website. The interview is on Microsoft Teams. You join as a guest. The link is sent to the email on the form, so that address has to stay live. If you are selected, you are expected to join immediately, with the originals, the printed form, and a photograph. If the originals do not match, the engagement can be withdrawn.

Educational Qualification
- The essential qualification is printed against each post code, and it is judged on 14 October 2026.
- Post code 3406 needs a B.E. or B.Tech in electronics, instrumentation, or computer science or engineering.
- The two JRF posts need a B.E. or B.Tech in electronics and communication, electrical and electronics, electronics and instrumentation, computer science, or information technology, or an M.Sc. in electronics.
- Where experience is essential, the experience certificate has to be uploaded. A degree that does not show the percentage or CGPA can be left out of the shortlist.

- 4Upload the 10th and 12th certificates, the diploma or degree, the mark sheet that shows the percentage or CGPA, date of birth, category certificate if you claim one, NET or GATE if you have it, and the experience certificate where the post requires experience.

No. They are project engagements for the sponsor of the project. They do not create a claim on a post in CSIR-CEERI or CSIR. The first tenure is six months, or until the project work ends, whichever is earlier.
